Detox...Why, When and How!
Over the course of a lifetime, each one of us will be exposed to thousands of toxic compounds that can enter our bodies through the air, water and food we eat. Researchers estimate that 80,000 synthetic chemicals are used today in the United States and more than a 1,000 are added each year. Four and half billion pounds of chemical pollutants were released into the environment in 2004 alone. Every year the average American is exposed to more than 14 pounds of pesticides, herbicides, food additives and preservatives.
We all use some household items on a daily basis that contain one or another form of chemical additive. Just think about a few of these items: shampoo, toothpaste, hand creams, perfumes, colognes, household cleaners, dry cleaning, sugar substitutes, food additives—just to name a few. On top of that, many people take over the counter and prescription medications. Some are exposed to toxins in the workplace. The reality is, we live in a toxic world. These chemical compounds accumulate in our fat cells and can have serious health consequences. To make matters worse, with poor or less than optimal nutrition, our bodies lack the proper nutrients to efficiently eliminate these toxins.
Toxins stored inside the body can result in fatigue, brain fog, irritability, headaches, joint pains, autoimmune diseases, cancer and more. In this issue we will explore why toxins are such a serious health concern, how the body processes and eliminates them, how to minimize your expose to toxins, and how to flush the toxins out of your body. So if you want more energy, permanent weight loss, better digestion, clearer thinking, a stronger immune system, better sex and restful sleep, then be sure to read on!
